It was wonderful to see so many people around the Village celebrating Earth Day 2024. On Monday, April 22, several residents were spotted picking up trash along roadsides, planting native flowers in gardens and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Youth and adult residents invited to virtual forum on healing from mental health and substance abuse
Montgomery County’s Alcohol and Other Drug Addiction Advisory Council is hosting a free virtual spring forum, “Journey to Recovery: Exploring Pathways to Healing from Mental Health and Substance Use” from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. Register for the forum.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been delivering on the promise to protect communities from the harmful effects of toxic substances, including cancer-causing agents. Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) are a series of man-made chemical compounds that persist in the environment for long periods of time.
In March, Living Grace Christian School (LGCS) students, along with students from five other schools in Florida and North Carolina, competed (remotely) in the ACSI Math Olympics. In the 12 competitions of computation and reasoning, LGCS placed 24 of their students, including seven 1st place finishes. The following students placed as follows:
Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 9801 Centerway Road, has partnered with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to collect donated items, which will go to one of the charity’s thrift stores to be sold to the public. The church is asking the Montgomery Village community to donate new and clean used clothing and shoes. Donations may be placed in the large Blue Donation Box located in the church’s parking lot.
