Seniors in Action

Seniors in ActionMVF’s Seniors in Action provides (independent) adults ages 55 and older with opportunities to connect with the community, stay active, learn new skills and have fun! We offer a wide variety of activities Monday through Thursday and select Fridays, including arts and crafts, leisure games, exercise classes, book discussions, special events and, of course, Bingo! All members are invited to participate in monthly member meetings where our Senior Advisory Board will discuss ideas for future activities, ask questions, and ensure that SiA is operating at its highest potential.

Membership fees are paid on a quarterly bases and include access to all activities and classes, unless otherwise noted. You must be a member to participate in or attend any activities. $25/Resident, $35/Non-resident

Activities are held at Stedwick Community Center, 10401 Stedwick Road, unless otherwise noted.

Monday 

  • Zumba with Kirsten 9 to 10 a.m.
    Learn fun, new dance moves in person, led by licensed Zumba Gold Instructor Kirsten Viera.
  • Games and Social Hour 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Socialize and play games such as Canasta, Rummikub, Ping-Pong, Scrabble, Uno and more!
  • Arts and Crafts 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
    1st and 3rd Monday of each month
    Learn new art techniques with instructor Caryl Strauss and take home a beautiful project each session.

2nd, 4th and 5th Monday of each month
Open crafting – help yourself to the arts and crafts cabinet to start a new masterpiece or work on an existing project.

Tuesday

  • Cardio Workout 9 to 10 a.m.
    Enjoy a light to moderate cardio walking workout.
  • Games and Social Hour 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Socialize and play games such as Canasta, Rummikub, Ping-Pong, Scrabble, Uno and more!
  • Member Meeting 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.
    2nd Tuesday of each month
    Bring your ideas to help plan future activities, as well as, your questions, comments or concerns.
  • Ballet Basics 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
    Join Karen Conner from The Studio of Dance for this introduction to ballet. We will also concentrate on balance, flexibility, core and ankle strength to help with stability.

Wednesday

  • Chair One Fitness 9 to 9:45 a.m.
    This class with Susan Baldridge, certified Chair One Fitness Instructor, offers an interactive, full-body workout through dance and fitness movements.
  • Games and Social Hour 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Socialize and play games such as Canasta, Rummikub, Ping-Pong, Scrabble, Uno and more!
  • Wednesday Specials 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • Book Discussion Club 10 to 11:30 a.m.
    2nd Friday of each month
    Share your thoughts on books selected by the group.

    Bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy and play Bingo with friends at our monthly gathering.
    Our quarterly Birthday Celebration will take place in May.
