New push button on-off system for court lights at Watkins Mill Recreation Area and North Creek Community Center

news-default

A new user operated on-off system has been installed to control the tennis court lights at Watkins Mill Recreation Area and North Creek Community Center. Players can turn on the court lights by pushing the green START button on the panel inside the court gate. The lights will remain on for two hours after the START button has been activated. Prior to the lights turning off, players will be warned by a flashing strobe light on the panel and can press the button again for additional time.

The court lights will still turn off at 10 p.m. until Monday, May 29, and then at 11 p.m. from Monday, May 29 through Saturday, Sept. 30. The new push button system will allow for energy savings since the courts will not be lighted when players are not using the courts, such as in inclement weather.
