New Amenity Planned for Patsy Huson Ballfield – Share Your Feedback

Patsy-Huson-Options

Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) is exploring a new recreation amenity at Patsy Huson Ballfield, located adjacent to Lake Marion Community Center. The project would transform a portion of the park beyond the outfield into a new recreation destination while preserving the existing ballfield for community use.

As part of the planning process, Recreation and Parks staff researched a variety of amenities that would provide year-round recreational opportunities, encourage active lifestyles, and serve residents of all ages. A key goal of the project is to provide a playground at Lake Marion Community Center, the only Montgomery Village community center that currently does not have one. Because the community center hosts a summer camp each year, every proposed concept includes a new playground in addition to the featured amenity.

After reviewing a range of possibilities, the Recreation Committee recommended, and the MVF Board of Directors approved, four concepts for community consideration: a ninja warrior obstacle course; an outdoor fitness space; a four-lane, 200-meter running track; and beach volleyball courts with outdoor games and an expanded playground.

Concept Options

Each concept offers a unique recreational opportunity. The ninja warrior obstacle course combines fitness and play while providing an activity geared toward older children and teens. The outdoor fitness space would create a free exercise area for residents of all ages. The running track would be the first publicly accessible track in Montgomery Village and would complement existing walking and running opportunities throughout the community. The beach volleyball and outdoor games concept includes two sand volleyball courts along with activities such as four-square, tetherball, cornhole, and table tennis, creating a destination for residents, summer camps, and community groups.

Share Your Feedback

To help determine which concept best meets the community's needs, MVF is seeking resident feedback through both an online survey and a virtual community meeting. The survey invites residents to share their opinions on each concept, identify their most and least preferred options, and provide additional comments or ideas.

The survey will remain open through Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, and can be accessed at https://questionpro.com/t/ASgLMZ9R9D.

The community meeting will be held via Zoom at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15. Join the Zoom meeting at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81292744244?pwd=bNjysFKs2dWHgz32EDna2KD87vkuFL.1.

During the meeting, Recreation and Parks staff will present each concept and provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and offer suggestions.

Community feedback from the survey and meeting will be reviewed by staff and presented to the Recreation Committee to help guide future decisions on the project.
