EVP Report: Upcoming community events, Bloom Village updates
by Mike Conroy, MVF Executive Vice President
Upcoming Community Events – There are a few opportunities in October to get out, meet neighbors, and interact with elected officials.
The Great Pumpkin Race – Get your pumpkin racers ready! The Great Pumpkin Race and Fall Festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 at North Creek Community Center, rain or shine! Come and race, support and/or cheer on neighbors and fellow Board members. Racer kits are available at the MVF Office if you want to build a racer—no cheaters (well, maybe just a few). I hope to
see you there at this great family and community event!
October Public Safety Meeting – In conjunction with Councilmember Luedtke’s office and the 6th District Police Department, MVF will host a Public Safety Town Hall in October. The event is scheduled in person for 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13 at North Creek Community Center.
Councilmember Luedtke and 6th District Police leadership will provide updates and statistics, as well as offer an opportunity for residents to share concerns and ask questions about crime and safety. This is a great opportunity for community members to interact with county leaders and continue our partnership.
Bloom Village Update – The townhouses in Area 2 (Red Bud) of Bloom Village continue to take shape, with many being occupied as others are being built! The extension of Stewartown Road is also being connected, although it is not a maintained or fully
functional street just yet. Access near Humpton Park continues to evolve, with stormwater infrastructure in place. As part of this phase of development, the park will be outfitted with Community Gardens; staff is currently working with Monument Realty on project details,
as well as internally on garden use procedures.
Also, at the intersection of Stewartown Road and Montgomery Village Avenue, a new traffic light has been installed but will not be activated until the road construction is complete. This intersection will also have a “No Turn on Red” designation.
