MVF officially took ownership of the David B. Humpton Park on Thursday, May 25, so the park is open today, Friday, May 26, for all residents, including our four-legged friends, to enjoy. At the ribbon-cutting event held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, we had a nice turnout of MVF Board of Directors members, Recreation Committee members, MVF staff (past and present), the park’s namesake – Dave Humpton, elected officials and key county staff members who came to celebrate the opening of the large nature-themed playground and Montgomery Village’s first dog park. This park gives our residents new ways to recreate. It is fitting that the park is named after Dave Humpton, former EVP of the MVF, for his valuable contribution over the past 15 years of leading MVF. The park’s opening is phase one. In the second phase, which is anticipated to open in 2025, we’ll add community gardens, additional open space and walking paths.

Over the long Memorial Day weekend, we hope Montgomery Village residents will add visiting our new park to their holiday plans. Please be mindful of the park rules and be friendly with your new neighborhood friends (human and animal) when visiting the park.
