Ride On announces enhancements to bus network service
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) announced that it will be expanding its current bus service by implementing findings from their two-year “Ride On Reimagined” survey. The study assessed the current Ride On and Metrobus network in the county and made changes based on ridership patterns and gathered feedback from bus riders, bus operators and potential bus riders to target transportation needs.
The recommendations include a one- and five-year plan, and a long-term vision plan. The one- and five-year plans focus on rerouting existing bus routes and the addition of new routes and bus services to improve connectivity and efficiency.
The long-term vision calls for an expansion of the county’s express and on-demand bus services, including eight new Flash bus rapid transit (BRT) lines, four Ride On extRa lines (including routes 55 and 56 that stop at the Lakeforest transfer station) and 19 new Ride On Flex zones.
Changes to those routes will be in effect as soon as Sunday, Jan. 12 to improve efficiency and on-time performance.
