MVF Summer Camps offer fun and flexibility
With the end of school around the corner, now is the perfect time to think about where your kids can explore summertime activities. MVF Summer Camps offer flexibility and variety so that not one minute of sunshine is wasted.
The Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) Department of Recreation and Parks offers a variety of unique camps for youth ages 4 to 12. Each week, campers will enjoy live performances, participate in games, go swimming, create arts and crafts projects, participate in science experiments and make new friends! All MVF Camps are state-licensed and follow all state and county guidelines.
This year, MVF is introducing two new camps: Arts and Crafts Camp and Sunny Day Camp. Arts and Crafts Camp focuses on imagination and creativity with weekly themes and art techniques like papier mâché, drawing, painting and sculpture. Sunny Day Camp is the perfect place for kids who want a little bit of everything, with a mix of activities in S.T.E.M., art, physical activity and swimming.
For sports enthusiasts, Camp Sport and Splash is all about outdoor fun: playing a variety of sports and games, tournaments and spending time in the pool. Additionally, sessions 1 through 6 will offer swim lessons, and sessions 7 and 8 will offer Tennis lessons through Tennis DNA. All three camps are located at North Creek Community Center, 20125 Arrowhead Road.
Camp Tiny Feet at Whetstone Community Center, 19140 Brooke Grove Court, is perfect for younger campers, filled with dance parties, indoor games, arts and crafts and shallow pool time at Whetstone Pool. Each session also has a special guest and weekly themes.
Teens ages 13 to 16, can register for the Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) program where adolescents and young adults can develop new skills, fulfill the Student Service Learning (SSL) requirement for education and help shape their ideas and goals for the future. Applicants must make a minimum commitment of three weeks and attend a group interview on Wednesday, May 17. If selected for the program, C.I.T.s must attend mandatory training on Wednesday, May 31. Need to schedule around other summer plans? Our flexible weekly sessions make it possible to maximize your child’s camp experience and minimize overpaying for sessions you cannot attend.
MVF camps provide peace of mind with top-notch staff. Many of our camp staff and directors have years of experience with Village youth, or even attended these camps themselves! And our manageable staff-to-camper ratio makes sure that your child receives care and attention, instead of just being another face in the crowd.
