Large dog park closed for maintenance, installation of shade structures at David B. Humpton Park

Shade-Drawings-01-02

MVF is pleased to announce two upcoming enhancements at David B. Humpton Park (9701 Stewartown Road): the installation of new shade structures in the playground area and maintenance work in the large dog park.

The installation of the shade structures will take place on Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16. This renovation will provide areas of respite from the sun’s rays, allowing users to enjoy extended periods of outdoor play, exercise and social interaction, even in hot weather. The addition of shade structures is a direct response to feedback from the community and will improve the overall accessibility and inclusivity of the park. The playground will remain open during the shade structure installation. For safety reasons, please adhere to any posted signage.

In addition, the large dog park area will be temporarily closed for essential maintenance from Thursday, May 16, through Friday, May 17. During this brief period, the large dog park will undergo work aimed at enhancing the durability of the surfacing. As part of these efforts, additional stone dust will be added to specific areas where grass has failed to thrive. This enhancement addresses a common issue in dog parks, where grass often struggles due to the high volume of dogs and their habits. Stone dust will help mitigate this issue, eliminating the mud puddles and ensuring a cleaner, more comfortable experience for pets and their guardians. The small dog park will remain open during this time.

We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance the playground and large dog park area.
