Update to renovation of Whetstone Community Center tennis courts
Due to a weather delay, the completion date for the tennis court repairs at the Whetstone Community Center has been extended. The courts are now expected to reopen by Sunday, May 26.
Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation as staff works to enhance the safety and quality of the park’s amenities.
Beginning on Monday, May 6, the tennis courts began to undergo a much-needed court surface repair and renovation. Over time, weather, wear and tear have led to cracks on the surface of the courts. The renovation plan includes filling in these cracks to create a safer playing surface. Uneven surfaces can also affect the ball’s bounce, so low spots on the courts will be leveled out to ensure a consistent and fair playing field for all. The courts will then be repainted to provide a fresh and vibrant look. The resurfacing was originally anticipated to be completed within 2 weeks, weather permitting. During this period, the courts will be closed. The repairs are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and quality of our amenities to ensure a more enjoyable experience for residents and visitors alike.
Thank you for your patience during this renovation period. For further information or inquiries, please contact Lauren Tuori, MVF Parks and Property Manager, at
