Montgomery Village is entering one of its most vibrant and engaging seasons, filled with opportunities for residents to connect, participate, and enjoy all that makes this community so special. As we look ahead to the warmer months and an exciting summer season, I want to highlight the many ways residents can take part in the amenities, programs and experiences that make living in Montgomery Village so special. Whether you enjoy outdoor recreation, our pools, programs and events, or simply a peaceful stroll through the neighborhood or parks, the Village offers it all!

Montgomery Village Foundation’s (MVF) yearlong 60th Anniversary Celebration is well underway, and it is not too late to join the fun. Participate in the 60th Anniversary Passport Journey throughout the Village or visit the MV 60th Anniversary Digital Memory Wall where you can share your favorite hometown memories while celebrating the history that connects us all.

Now is also the time to decide whether you are ready to take on our upcoming 60th Anniversary Pool Side Quest. Returning from our 50th Anniversary celebration, this popular challenge is 10 years older and that means 10 kilometers longer. The first 60 participants to visit all six Village pools and either swim or walk 60 kilometers in the water this summer will earn a commemorative 60th Anniversary towel.

Speaking of pools, Whetstone Pool opens on May 16. The timing is perfect if you want to get a head start on the towel challenge or simply relax poolside. Be sure to visit all six pools once they open to enjoy the lazy river, water features and slides, or participate in aquatics classes that offer a low-impact way to stay active while keeping cool. Swim lessons are available for all ages.

Finally, don’t forget to check out your local summer swim team – a staple of community spirit and summer tradition – where kids can strengthen their swimming skills and engage in friendly competition.

On the pool front, please learn more here about the major renovation of Stedwick Pool, the new Digital Pool Pass system and other Pool Schedule information.

Summers at South Valley Park will be back with exciting concerts and outdoor movie nights from May to September. Perhaps I’ll see you at the Taylor Swift tribute concert on Saturday, June 13 and share friendship bracelets.

Lake Whetstone Boat Dock rentals will officially begin on Saturday, May 23, and the MV Farmers’ Market opens on Saturday, June 6. The MV Independence Day Parade and Celebration will take place on Friday, July 3. We don’t want you to miss anything; take a look at the Summer Recreation Guide insert for details about events, programs and classes all summer long. There are many ways to stay active outdoors, including pickleball, tennis, soccer, disc golf and bocce on the new court at William Hurley Park to open later this month.

As we look ahead to an exciting summer season, I encourage all residents to stay engaged in Montgomery Village beyond recreation. Community involvement also means participating in local homes corporation and MVF Board meetings to stay informed and share your views during Residents’ Time. We invite you to join committees aligned with your interests and share your perspective and ideas. A strong community depends on active participation. Your voice and involvement are essential in helping us effectively serve the community and ensure that decisions made reflect your needs and priorities.

Wishing you a wonderful summer, and I look forward to seeing you around town!
