Fresh Finds and Community Connections at the Montgomery Village Farmers’ Market

Did you know that farmers’ markets in North America date back to the 1600s? One of the first recorded markets was the Boston Market in 1634. Today, farmers’ markets remain a popular way for people to buy fresh produce directly from the source while supporting local businesses. Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) continues this tradition through the Montgomery Village Farmers’ Market.

A Community Gathering Place

Open every Saturday from June through October, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church (9801 Centerway Road), the Montgomery Village Farmers’ Market features a variety of local vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade baked goods, flowers and plants, specialty coffee, spices, handcrafted glass art, and more.

More than just a place to shop for farm-fresh ingredients, the market serves as a community space where residents can connect with local farmers and artisans, discover unique products, and support small businesses. To keep the experience fresh, vendors may vary from week to week. Residents can find the weekly vendor lineup on the Montgomery Village Farmers’ Market Facebook page and the full vendor list on the website.

The market also offers an opportunity to support environmental sustainability. Through working with local business Compost Crew, MVF provides a composting service that makes it easy for residents to reduce food waste and contribute to a greener community.

A Community-Driven Vision

The MV Farmers’ Market was established in 2011 following a 2010 community-wide Long Range Facility Planning Study, which identified a farmers’ market as the second most-requested addition in the Village. In response, the MVF Board launched the market as a community initiative designed to bring residents together, support local businesses, and promote healthy living.

More than a decade later, the market continues to fulfill that vision by providing a vibrant place for residents to shop local, connect with neighbors, and enjoy the Village!
