Spotless Brands will not pursue purchase of the property adjacent to LIDL (Lot 37)

On August 19, Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) management was notified that Spotless Brands (Flagship Car Wash) has decided not to pursue the purchase of the property adjacent to LIDL at the intersection of Montgomery Village Avenue and Centerway Road (Lot 37).

Following the July MVF Board meeting, management sent a letter opposing the proposed car wash development on behalf of the MVF Board of Directors - which had been prepared and presented to the Board-  to the team at Spotless Brands.

Management is now seeking the Board’s feedback regarding the next potential steps, including whether the Board would like management to pursue any other options related to the property.

Previously, Spotless Brands, owner of a number of car wash franchises across the country, proposed to build a new Flagship Car Wash next to Lidl, on the currently vacant plot of land known as “Lot 37.” Representatives from Spotless Brands (contract purchaser), Miles & Stockbridge (land use attorney), Gorove Slade (traffic engineer), and MHG (civil engineer) presented the concept plan on March 23, 2026 to an audience of 100 residents who shared concerns and noted they didn’t feel that a car wash was the right fit for the space.
