Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) is pleased to announce that solar panel installations at several key community facilities are completed — marking a major milestone in MVF’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency as outlined in its Organizational Green Plan.

Installation has been successfully completed at the following locations: North Creek Community Center, Whetstone Community Center, G.W. Bowie Music Pavilion, Stedwick Community Center, Peggy Mark Pool and the MVF Office.

MVF is now awaiting signed interconnection agreements from PEPCO, which are necessary to complete the final phase of the project — connecting each solar system to the power grid. These agreements are anticipated to be completed in the coming weeks.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in reducing MVF’s carbon footprint while also achieving long-term energy cost savings. “We are thrilled to see this project coming to life,” said Executive Vice President Mike Conroy. “The transformation of our community facilities into renewable energy contributors is not only a smart environmental move, but a financially sound one as well. We’re incredibly grateful to our partners and the State of Maryland for helping make this vision a reality.”

MVF extends a special thank you to Senator Nancy King and the Delegation from District 39 for the instrumental role they played in securing state funding for this project and for their continued support of Montgomery Village. Their advocacy has been vital in helping the community take this important step toward a greener future.

With this project, MVF continues to take positive steps to make its operation more sustainable.
