MVF holds ribbon-cutting ceremony days ahead of Stedwick Pool reopening

On Friday, August 14, MVF held a small ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the newly renovated Stedwick Pool and Bathhouse. The facility was originally built in 1970, when pool and facility requirements were very different from what they are today. The major renovations were essential in bringing a facility that is more than 50 years old up to modern standards.

The newly renovated pool facility is set to open to the community on Monday, August 17 at 12 p.m. and includes:

• A heated and lit eight-lane, 25-meter pool, a hydrotherapy area, a sunshelf with submerged loungers, a diving board and well, and an ADA ramp.
• The wading pool features a beach entry, bubble features, and shade coverage.
• The bathhouse was completely renovated and received significant improvements.
• The renovation also extends to the main center with some cosmetic and functional improvements.

The project has created a unique heated aquatic facility, which will serve Montgomery Village residents for many years to come.

The following parties involved in this project were recognized at the ceremony:

• The MVF Board of Directors, who authorized moving forward with this project and supported the investment in Stedwick Pool.
• The MVF Recreation Committee members, who participated in the community forums and provided valuable input.
• The design/build team that took our goals and criteria and turned them into reality.
• The Keller Brothers, Inc., notably Brandon Smith, Tabitha Sponaugle, and Dana Reynolds
• Paddock Swimming Pool Company; SEI Architects; and the entire design team 
• MVF Department of Recreation and Parks, Staff

 Several local elected officials and county partners were present, inlcuding:

• Senator Nancy King, Delegate Greg Wims, and Delegate Lesley Lopez 
• A representative from Councilmember Dawn Luedtke's office 

The last order of business Friday morning: cut the ribbon and move one step closer to reopening Stedwick Pool to our community!
