Lakeforest developer to present plan to Village residents

WRS, the owner and developer of the Lakeforest property, has agreed to present their latest plan to Village residents. The current Schematic Development Plan (SDP) was submitted to the City of Gaithersburg Mayor, Town Council and Planning Commission on June 17 to a standing-room-only crowd at Gaithersburg City Hall. During the meeting, Montgomery Village (MVF) Foundation Board of Directors President Doniele Ayres gave testimony with general continued support of the plan, but expressed concern for traffic impacts and pedestrian and vehicular safety in and around the site.

Residents are invited to view the virtual presentation at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 29, via Zoom (details below). The SDP and related information can be previewed online. Questions can be submitted in advance using the Residents’ Time Question form to help facilitate the conversation.

The public comment period for the SDP will remain open until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14; the City is anticipated to take final action on the SDP on Monday, Aug. 26.

A separate Joint Work Session between WRS, the Mayor and City Council, and Planning Commission has been scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 8, in the City Council Chambers, 16 South Summit Avenue. The session will address the vision for Lakeforest, a Sense of Place, and Housing Variety, among other parts of the plan.
