Adopt a new furry friend any day of the week
Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) in Derwood, 7315 Muncaster Mill Road, will be open for adoptions 7 days a week beginning Sunday, Jan. 14. Adoptions will no longer be conducted by appointment, due to critical capacity for dogs at the shelter, and adoption fees are waived for all animals until further notice. Interested adopters may fill out the adoption questionnaire online before visiting the adoption center or when they arrive. Animals will then be adopted same day on a first-come, first-served basis.
MCASAC encourages adopters to come prepared to bring a furry friend home with carriers for small animals like cats and ferrets, and collars and leashes for dogs. Montgomery County residents must also provide rabies vaccination certificates for all cats, dogs and ferrets they already own when they arrive and must license their pets before they can meet with an adoption counselor.
MCASAC is open from Noon to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from Noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that patrons may experience wait times during peak hours.
