Montgomery Village claims 28th Tree City USA title

Montgomery Village has been named a 2015 Tree City USA community by The National Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. It is the 28th consecutive year Montgomery Village has received this national recognition.

According to the National Arbor Day Foundation, Montgomery Village has met four criteria to become a Tree City USA, including a tree board or department; a tree care ordinance; maintaining a community forestry budget; and holding an official Arbor Day observance.

Montgomery Village celebrated Arbor Day 2015 by planting a Yellowwood tree at Ed DeSimon Recreation Area. For 2016, a larger Arbor Day celebration is planned, including nature walks, tree plantings, Monarch Butterfly programs and demonstrations, lake cleanup and free seeds and seedlings. The program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 23 at North Creek Lake and the Nature Center, 20300 Aspenwood Lane. For more information, visit www.montgomeryvillage.com.
