Spring has sprung in South Village
by the Stedwick Board of Directors
Spring has sprung and South Village is beginning to bloom. Spring cleanup was completed, and mowing on a weekly schedule has begun. The Board has been working to remove diseased or stressed trees and approved a hard prune of all shrubs and cherry trees, which will allow them all to grow back beautifully. The first turf application has been scheduled and will enhance lush growth. There are several areas (at least one-third of SVHC) that will be aerated in the fall to promote future growth. The entrance sign to The Hamptons is getting
refreshed this year with some new plantings. There will be concrete work completed in early June to eliminate tripping hazards in various locations. Covenant Compliance Inspections will begin toward the end of May in South Village, so start working to clean up and spruce up your outdoor area after a long cold winter. Repair rotted wood and broken materials; refresh faded, chipped and peeling paint; and clean out your backyard or courtyard, whichever may apply. You can get your paint colors, materials and home profile record by contacting the

All residents have been reminded of trash regulations and trash disposal days, but there are still several who do not comply. The Board again is asking the community to follow the guidelines and the law to eliminate the extra expense to have additional portering beyond what is already being provided. Illegal dumping is a waste of money for everyone. If any resident is caught or identified dumping trash/
recycle/bulk trash on nonscheduled days, they will be called to a hearing of the Board and subsequently face fines. Owners are reminded: You are accountable for your tenants’ actions. Did you know, you can schedule bulk trash pickup for free. Call J&J trash to schedule

Are you new to South Village? Do you want to get involved? The Board of Directors is looking for Board member volunteers. As a new
resident, you may be able to provide fresh ideas or insight into what you would like to see in South Village. As a longtime resident, you may want your ideas heard. Nothing can happen without participation. All meetings are held virtually via Zoom and are open to all residents/owners of South Village. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. If you would like to attend, please send your request to
In closing, during this spring and summer be sure to take some time to enjoy the beauty in our Montgomery Village community and not
only in South Village. Picnic at the lake, spend time on the dock, and maybe rent a boat or fish, watch the geese, and if you’re lucky, you could spot a heron. Pools will open soon, and summer concerts will begin. Take a walk on any of the walking paths or stargaze through the vast foliage. Don’t forget to stop in at the Watkins Mill Outdoor Fitness Park for a workout or two or spend time at the MV Farmers’ Market on Saturdays! With so much to see and do in our great community, it would be a shame to miss any of it. If being outside is not
your thing, check out the MVF Summer Recreation Guide insert in this issue for exciting classes and events or go online
at www.montgomeryvillage.com and visit the Recreation and Events sections. Whatever you choose to do, have a great
spring and summer..
