Whetstone Parking
In March of this year, the Whetstone Homes Corporation undertook the process to attempt an amendment the Declaration of Covenants which would have allowed residents to park their personal (non-commercial) pickup trucks in their driveway. There was a Special Meeting held on May 13, 2021 for comment and discussion. In order for the amendment to pass, there would have to have been 60% of the membership voting to the affirmative. The required percentage was not reached in May and the board extended the deadline to June 19, 2021. In June, the board resolved the amendment had failed as only 49.89% of the membership had voted and therefore the required vote not obtained. Therefore, the Declaration of Covenants, as established restricts the parking of pickup trucks unless kept in a garage.
Residents are reminded to make certain their pick-up trucks are parked in their garage after 9 p.m.
Parking in Whetstone is regulated by covenants and rules:
- Overnight parking of commercial vehicles and trucks is prohibited unless garaged;
- Parking of trailers, boats, campers, oversized vehicles or recreational vehicles is prohibited;
- Parking in fire lanes, parking on sidewalks, parking on green space and double-parking are prohibited;
- Unlicensed, inoperative or abandoned vehicles are prohibited;
- Vehicles must not be stored in the parking area (all vehicles must be moved at least every 30 days);
- Vehicles must not be used for storage;
- Extensive vehicle repairs are prohibited;
- Violators may be stickered and towed;
- Residents are expected to use garages, carports, and driveways when provided.
