Spring forward

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as President of the Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) Board of Directors. I am excited to work with the Board, the Executive Vice President and all of the MVF staff. More important, I am excited to serve the community. At our annual meeting in March, we looked back at a successful 2023 for the Village, and our April meeting shows strong financial performance in the first quarter of 2024, as well as a plan to continue our growth.

In any given year, more than 150 volunteers in the community fill positions on the boards of directors and committees, providing oversight and advice and helping make decisions that keep neighborhoods and Montgomery Village as a whole, the best it can be.
From the desk of the EVP: A look back at April growth in Montgomery Village
The spring season is synonymous with growth, change and rebirth. As soon as the weather starts to change and the flowers and trees start to bloom, we are reminded of the newness of the year and the changes to come. In thinking about that change over time, and the growth of the Village, I thought it would be interesting to look back at some important changes in Village history that happened in the month of April.

At its October 26 meeting, the Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) Board of Directors approved the 2024 Operating Budget, which proposed no increase in the MVF assessment and a 3 percent increase in the Designated User (DU) assessment. The 2024 rates were set at $21.52/month for the MVF assessment and $43.52/month for the DU assessment.
Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services (DPS) has improved its Residential Fast Track program and its Apply Online portal, creating changes that could lead to permits on some eligible projects, such as single-level decks and fences, being approved in days instead of weeks as long as submitted applications have complete information.
As the world transitions toward electric vehicles (EVs), Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) is embracing this change and finding ways to accommodate residents' needs while maintaining harmonious aesthetics to the original community designs.
Some rain and a bit of chilly weather didn’t stop Montgomery Village Foundation from hosting The Great Pumpkin Race and Fall Festival for the 14th year on Saturday, Oct. 14, at North Creek Community Center.
On Tuesday, Oct. 3, County Councilmembers Dawn Luedtke and Laurie-Anne Sayles hosted a Community Town Hall meeting to discuss and gather input for a potential, new county-run community/recreation center on the former Lakeforest Mall property, as part of the development of the site by WRS.
