MCPS seeks donations for “GIVE BACKpacks” campaign

You can help students thrive this coming school year by donating as little as $20 to the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) “GIVE BACKpacks” campaign. The program provides filled backpacks to students in need with school supplies such as paper, crayons, pencils and pens, a pencil sharpener, binders, folders and other supplies that may be deemed necessary throughout the year.

More than 70,000 MCPS students currently receive free and reduced-price meals, and many families struggle to afford basic necessities like school supplies. A $20 donation will supply one student with a filled backpack for the 2024–2025 school year. Higher donation tiers are also available and can cover the cost of school supplies for an entire MCPS school district.

Available tiers are:

School District – $50,000
School Cluster – $25,000
School (Secondary) – $10,000
School (Elementary) – $6,500
School Grade – $2,500
School Class – $300
Student – $20

Donations can be made via check, text message or online. For more information, or to donate, visit the GIVE BACKpacks website.
