Greetings from the 6th District Police Department

Happy Spring! The Montgomery County Police (MCPD) 6th District has a great deal going on that we wanted to share. I recently returned from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy. This program is a 10-week law enforcement leadership program that takes place at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. The class is made up of approximately 200 law enforcement leaders from all over the United States and world. There were 19 international students in my class. I was able to work with my peers on contemporary law enforcement issues and work towards solutions for the future. Attending this program was a great experience and honor, and I appreciate Lt. Nancy Hudson, Jason Cokinos and Brian Tanzi holding down the fort in my absence.

As we approach the summer, the 6th District is excited to launch the new Montgomery Village Team. This group, which was requested by MCPD, supported by County Executive Ike Leggett and funded by the county council, will bring five police officers and one sergeant specifically dedicated to Montgomery Village. 

The sergeant selected for the team is Sgt. Carlo Corvoisier. I have worked with Sgt. Corvoisier over the years, and he has a wide set of experience as a patrol officer in Wheaton, a Special Assignment Team officer, Special Investigations and more. 

The Montgomery Village Team is a uniform patrol unit that will be focused on problem solving and improving the quality of life in the Village. The team will not be the primary responders for calls for service; rather they will be conducting patrols on mountain bikes, working on community problem solving and outreach, as well as enforcement duties. The Watkins Mill High School School Resource Officer will also be part of this team, ensuring that we have a comprehensive approach to Montgomery Village. 

In short, I am very pleased with the support that the 6th District continues to receive from the public, Chief Manger and our elected officials. Please come out to the Coffee with a Cop on Saturday April, 21 at the Lake Marion Community Center, 8821 East Village Avenue, to meet my team.
