National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Oct. 26
Help make Montgomery Village and the county a safer place by properly disposing of unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs. On Saturday, Oct. 26, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Village residents can drop off unused, unwanted or expired medication for safe disposal to North Creek Community Center, 20125 Arrowhead Road. Montgomery County 6th District Police Officers will be stationed outside the community center to accept and properly dispose of the medication.
No intravenous solutions, needles or syringes, or illicit substances such as methamphetamine or marijuana, or inhalers will be accepted. The Montgomery County Department of Police urges you to remove any identifying information from your prescription labels.
Residents may also drop off at the 6th District Police Station located at 45-K W. Watkins Mill Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878.
According to the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) National Prescription Take Back website, "The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat. DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting."
