Seniors in Action

MVF’s Seniors in Action program offers an expanded variety of activities Monday through Friday for adults 55 and over, September 3 to December 13. Join us and see what Seniors in Action has to offer! Activities include social gatherings, games, exercise, book discussions, community outreach and special events. All activities are held at Stedwick Community Center, 10401 Stedwick Road, unless otherwise noted.

Weekly Activities


  • Arts & Crafts - 10 a.m. to noon
    Artists of all skill levels will enjoy the wide variety of projects this workshop has to offer.
  • SiA Social Games - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Enjoy a variety of card and board games, conversation and refreshments.
  • Book Discussion Group - 10 to 11 a.m. 
    Discuss your thoughts and opinions on books selected by the SiA Book Discussion Group.
    Meeting dates: Sept. 16, Oct. 14, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16


  • Light Cardio Workout - 9 to 10 a.m. 
    Get active and stay healthy by working up a sweat. Participants will work out and be guided through interactive exercise videos using light weights and resistance bands.
  • Flow Motion - 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. 
    Work the mind/body with controlled, flowing motions, range of motion improvement, balance and muscular strength. Seated and/or standing.
  • SiA Member Meeting - 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.
    Last Tuesday of each month. Join us to discuss with MVF staff new ideas, suggestions or any questions about our SiA program.


  • SiA Social Games - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Come play games and socialize with other members while enjoying refreshments. Last Wednesday of the month potluck luncheons and guest speakers will be announced on monthly calendar.


  • Light Cardio Workout - 9 to 10 a.m. 
    Work out with other SiA members using light weights and resistance bands.
  • Total Body Tune-up - 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
    Fun and easy to follow seated and standing movements to tone and stretch gently and comfortably to lively music.


  • ​Bingo and Brown Bag Lunch - Noon to 2 p.m.
    Bring a lunch and play some bingo with your Seniors in Action friends! Members are welcome to bring friends and family to join in the fun. Play dates are the second Friday of every month.
    Free for members, $2 per non-member.

Toby’s Dinner Theatre – “Mamma Mia!” - Wednesday, Sept. 4

The magic of ABBA’s timeless hit music (”Dancing Queen,” “The Winner Takes It All “and many more) tells this story of love, laughter and friendship.

Fitness Opportunities

Light Cardio Workout - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 to 10 a.m.
Step by step you can get in shape with Seniors in Action! Members will work out with exercise videos, light resistance bands and weights, led by exercise enthusiasts and staff. Don’t hesitate to walk yourself to health.

Total Body Tune-up - Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.
Fun, easy to follow, seated and standing movement emphasizes muscle toning, light cardiovascular work and stretching.

Flow Motion - Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. 
Work the mind/body with controlled, flowing motions, range of motion improvement, balance and muscular strength. Seated and/or standing.


All Seniors in Action activities take place at Stedwick Community Center, 10401 Stedwick Road, unless otherwise noted.

From Montgomery Village Avenue, make either a right or left (depending on direction travelling) onto Stedwick Road. Cross over Watkins Mill Road. Stedwick Community Center is on the right, past the Montgomery Village Middle School athletic fields.
