The Seneca Valley Sugarloafers Volksmarch Club is sponsoring a seasonal Kenwood Cherry Blossoms and Spring Flowers Seasonal Walk in Bethesda between Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, April 26. The 10km trail, rated 2A, is on the Capital Crescent Trail and on streets through the Kenwood neighborhood with beautiful cherry blossoms/spring flowers. This trail has some hills—it is suitable for strollers but not for wheelchairs.
The 5km trail, rated 1A, requires driving 3.2 miles to a different start point; driving directions are on the walk instructions. The 5km trail is on the streets through the Kenwood neighborhood with beautiful cherry blossoms/spring flowers. It is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. After the cherry blossoms are gone, azaleas and other spring flowers will be in bloom.
Walkers must register and pick up walk instructions/map for the walk in the “Start Box” at Starbucks Coffee, 4611-E Sangamore Road (The Shops at Sumner Place), Bethesda. This walk is for daylight hours only. The fee for IVV Credit or Non-IVV Credit is $3. Children 12 and under (IVV-Credit included) walk free courtesy of the Seneca Valley Sugarloafers Volksmarch Club. Restrooms are available in the shopping center and along the 10km trail; restrooms are available only in the shopping center for the 5km trail. Pets are allowed but must be leashed at all times; they are not allowed in Sumner Place stores but can be leashed outside.
