Assistant Farmers' Market Manager

Job Description: 

Hours: Up to 5 hours per week, 2 to 3 Saturdays each month during the Fall Farmers' Market season (September and October)

The Assistant Market Manager (AMM) will assist with market administration, addressing participant and customer issues, and supervising market volunteers. The AMM will assist the Market Manager with various activities in the community. The AMM will be considered for expanded hours in 2019.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • On-time set up and take down of the weekly market
  • Sets up ‘No-Parking’ signs before Saturday market
  • Ensures vendors, farmers, and customers are safely blocked off from traffic
  • Assists the farmers and vendors in market set-up
  • Assists with inspections, market redemptions, and other paperwork
  • Represents Montgomery Village Foundation at the Information Booth to perform community outreach
  • Works with a diverse population and provides training and oversight
  • Provide Programming support whenever possible
Job Requirements: 
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Outgoing, positive, and professional customer-service skills
  • Responsible and detail-oriented
  • Proficient in basic math
  • Confidence working in an underserved, diverse community
  • Team Player and able to remain calm in stressful situations

Strongly Desired Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Shows knowledge and passion for farmers’ markets, sustainable food systems, food justice, and the assets and needs of the communities served by MVF
