July 4th Celebration/5K Race

Celebrate Independence Day in your community with a host of activities for the whole family to enjoy! Each year, Montgomery Village hosts a 5K & Fun Run, Community Parade and Family Festivities on this great summer holiday. Activities run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the pools in the afternoon and get to that afternoon/evening barbeque with friends and neighbors.

5K & Fun Run

Start your Independence Day Celebration the fun and fit way by participating in the Montgomery Village 5K Race or Fun Run at Lake Marion Community Center, 8821 East Village Avenue. Montgomery County Road Runners, one of the most highly respected running organizations in the state, will be back this year to handle electronic chip timing, along with the return of high-quality wicking race shirts and swag bags (while supplies last).

Register in advance through 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 29. The 5K costs $25/Resident, $30/Non-resident; the Fun Run costs $15/Resident, $20/Non-resident.
Register by 7:30 a.m. on race day for the 5K at $35 per participant or the fun run at $25 per participant.

Children's & Community Parade

2017 Parade Theme: "Out of Many, One"

9 a.m. registration, 9:30 a.m. judging, 10 a.m. start!
The parade will feature fire engines, classic cars, community groups, eye-catching mascots and floats, music and more! You can find a curbside seat and enjoy your hometown parade! Participants register and line up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints parking lot, 20020 Montgomery Village Avenue.

All are encouraged to enter! Decorate a bike, a wagon or yourself and strut your stuff down Apple Ridge Road. It’s free, fun and a great way to show your creativity and community spirit. Parade entries which best reflect the annual theme will be judged in the following categories: decorated stroller, big wheel or tricycle: all ages; bicycles: ages 4 to 6, 7 to 10, and 11 and older; motorized toy vehicle: 6 and younger; decorated wheel chair; community banner or sign; hand-pulled floats: group/organization; hand-pulled floats: family/individual; motorized floats: groups/organization; motorized floats: family/individual; costume: 6 and younger, ages 7 to 10, and 11 and older; and marching group or performing marching group/individual.

Free Rock ‘n’ Roll Show
Immediately following the parade, 10:45 a.m.
The celebration starts with some great live music from The Back Pages Band! During a short break, MVF Board President Pete Young will officially open the event and announce parade contest winners.

Carnival Games, Rides, Crafts, Bingo, Festival Food and Concert
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

After the parade, stay at the Apple Ridge Pool and Recreation Area for a fun-filled celebration. Past highlights have included a climbing rock wall, a giant slide, a kiddie swing ride and the popular Pirates Revenge. Food choices will include ice cream, pizza, sandwiches and plenty of cold drinks. Take a chance on BINGO, the carnival games and the great music provided by the Montgomery Village Community Band.
